Shaw set to make a good impression

Pittwater House Grammar School student, Harry Shaw, has been selected by the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) to travel to Slovakia and Austria, to attend the 10th International Pierre De Coubertin Youth Forum in late August and September.

The AOC has selected just eight students nationally, to act as Australian ambassadors at this event.

Harry was recently interviewed by the Vice President of the Olympic Committee and will join athletes from 23 countries at the Forum.

Pittwater House School Principal, Dr Nancy Hiller said: “This is a remarkable achievement.  In selecting Harry, the AOC saw an ideal candidate to represent Australia - his kindness and sincerity shone through.”

The students chosen, aged between 16 and 18 years, are selected on character, behaviour, contribution to sport and representing the Olympic ideals.

The Pierre De Coubertin Olympic Youth Forum takes place every two years and provides an opportunity for young athletes to experience cultural exchange, compete in sports activities, engage in artistic presentations and show knowledge on Olympic history.

Harry’s success also extends beyond the Youth Forum, as he was recently named the Goal Keeper for the Australian All Schools Water Polo Team and will travel to South Africa with them in December to compete in an International Schools Tournament.
