Alumni Achievements

Recently three Pittwater House Alumni attended the World University Games in Russia. This quadrennial event was held in Kazan in central Russia where 13,000 participants enjoyed great competition. This was the second largest sporting event (by participation) ever held (after the Beijing Olympic Games); with the calibre of the competition being attested by the presence of more than a dozen Olympic Gold Medallists from the London Olympics in the host national's team alone!

Not only have these students continued to excel in their sporting domains, they have also maintained their academic positions; we congratulate them and news of their feats will encourage our current students to pursue their dreams.

Jacqui Green (Class of 2011) represented Australian Universities in the Canoe Sprint Team. Jacqui competed in three events traditionally dominated by Eastern-bloc superstars: the K1 200m, K4 200m and K4 500m.

Natalie Molen-Grigull (Class of 2011) was the sole Australian Universities' representative in the Women's Fencing Individual Sabre event.

Pascalle Casey (Class of 2012) was one of only two NSW University students selected to represent Australian Universities in the Women's Water Polo competition. Pascalle and her team performed wonderfully, with 3 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses (these losses in remarkably close matches to Water Polo powerhouses and eventual Silver and Bronze medallists Hungary and Italy). Australia's team was placed 5th in the world.

Congratulations to Jacqui, Natalie and Pascalle for being wonderful examples of what extraordinary talent, dedication, organisation, self-sacrifice and family support can achieve. And of course, as role models of the Pittwater House spirit.

Additionally,  two further Alumni achievements:

Amity Delaney (Class of 2012) has gained an Athletics Scholarship to McNeese State University (a Division 1 University) in Indiana where she will continue her studies of communication and journalism.

Max Gay (Class of 2011) has gained a place at Bournemouth University to study multimedia Journalism. Max is currently working in sports journalism in the UK.
