Sporting Success - August/September 2012

AICES Rising Star Grant - Pascalle Casey

Pascalle Casey (Year 12) was awarded a grant from the AICES Rising Star Program, the Program is designed to support young people participating at CIS level or higher as an athlete or official. AICES awards up to ten (10) Rising Starr Grants each school year.

Equestrian

Maisy Whitehead (Year 2), recently participated in the Northside Dressage Competition at St Ives, Maisy was placed 1st in the Junior section on her pony, Millie Moo. Maisy also managed to gain 3 second places, a third and a fourth place for her efforts at the Gymkhana.

Athletics - CDSSA (Years 7-12)

During August, 63 students from Pittwater House competed in the CDSSA Athletics Championships. This year's carnival has been the most successful CDSSA Carnival in many years. Pittwater House had a total of 43 students progressing onto AICES Carnival at Sydney Olympic Athletics Centre at Homebush.

Pittwater House fielded such a strong team, students broke 5 CDSSA records and the team came home with 1 Age Champion; Amy Smit.

Also at CDSSA Championships the team collected a total of 111 ribbons. Pittwater House achieved second overall behind International Grammar School by only 93 points.

Records Broken at CDSSA included:

1. Amity Delaney (17 Years) - 3k new record 11:52.18 beating old record of 12:24.04

2. Amity Delaney (17 Years) - 1500m new record 5:22.60 beating old record of 5:29.99

3. Amity Delaney (17 Years) - 800m new record 2:39.26 beating old record 2:50.04

4. Katia Molen-Gigull (15 Years) - High Jump 1.52m beating old record of 1.50m

5. Elisa Molen-Grigull (14 Years) - High Jump 1.52m beating old record of 1.50m

Snow Sports - NSW Interschool Snow Sports

Four students from Pittwater House raced in the NSW Snow Sports Championships held in Thredbo last month. The day was recorded as being one of the heaviest snowfalls of the season with gusty winds and poor visibility. All students are to be congratulated for their tenacity.

China Waters, Riley Cross and Maddy Alexis all qualified through to the National level for Snowboard Giant Slalom, with Maddy making it through for boardercross.

Results achieved: 

Division 1 Girls: China Waters (C11) 7th in Snow Board Giant Slalom, 12th in Boarder Cross

Division 2 Boys: Hugo Dowd (G10) 26th in SB GS, 21st in Boarder Cross

Division 2 Girls: Maddy Alexis (C10) 3rd in SB GS, 3rd in Boarder Cross

Division 2 Girls: Riley Cross (C10) 10th in SB GS, DSQ in Boarder Cross

Division 2 Girls team of Maddy and Riley were positioned 2nd overall in the Snow Board Giant Slalom 

Snow Sports - Junior Girls Thredbo Freeride  

During September Maddy Alexis won the Junior Girls Thredbo Freeride (snowboard) event which has placed her first in the Series.

Maddy Alexis also won the Australian leg of the World Rookie Tour for slopestyle snowboarding. Maddy successfully competed in the Rookie Division (15 - 17 years), and has secured a spot in the World Rookie Fest Finals in Ishgl, Austria in April 2013.
