Grammar School Program

It is with great excitement that in 2012 Pittwater House School will be providing a new outdoor education program to support the development of our students. The program is run by the Outdoor Education Group, which is an independent not-for-profit organisation, that was founded in 1984 and focuses on outdoor experiential learning.

The new program supports and reinforces the School's pastoral curriculum in the most practical of settings. It is structured so students work together in small, professionally facilitated groups, and deals directly with concepts such as leadership, inclusiveness and the value of working towards a common goal. Each program is hosted in a semi-remote location within Australia - to remove the participants from 'normal' life.

The outdoor education program at Pittwater House is a sequential program (i.e. each phase builds on and reinforces previous learning) which runs from Year 3 to Year 11.  Each Year group has its own tailored program that aims to extend the pastoral (and where practical, the academic) elements of the school curriculum into a guided 'learning by doing' environment out of doors.
