Leaders instil in their people a hope for success and a belief in themselves. Positive leaders empower people to accomplish their goals.
Good leaders stand out because people want to work with them, they are inspiring to be with, they make us feel that our quests are possible, and they help us achieve our best.
At Pittwater House we aim to prepare our young students for life beyond the classroom. We aspire to give them skills to work as part of a team and to work conscientiously. At school, as in the wider community, there is a need for people with wonderful ideas who can inspire and help others to unlock their potential. The School boasts its own distinctive identity by having leadership positions in the the boys Grammar School and Girls' College: Year Prefects, class monitors, and other leadership opportunities are available in areas such as Debating, Public Speaking, Community Service, the Environment, Art, Music, the Resource Centre as well as through the House system.
All students can become school leaders after completinga 2-3 year Leaders Program. This Program helps them develop the confidence, skills and knowledge to be a good leader. Pittwater Houses' formal Leadership Program offers students from Year 9 -11 a safe environment in which every student is encouraged to adopt strong leadership roles and develop confidence in their personal abilities. Students must organise a community placement and complete a minimum of six hour of work, lead assemblies or Form Groups and organise special events. They must involve themselves in all aspects of school life and participate in a range of co-curricular activites.
The Heads of Schools are ambassadors for the School's values and qualities. They work closely with all the student leaders. Every student leader is a role model for all our students and as leaders our students gain a real sense of their contribution to the School and the wider community.
