Pittwater House enables students to open their minds, to aim high in all they do and to make the most of the opportunities available to them. On average, 90% of the Pittwater House students that apply for University are granted placement in their course of first choice, in the first round of offers.  Perhaps that is why our School has a reputation on Sydney's Northern Beaches for delivering consistently good academic results.

Testimony to our focus on academic success is the 2011 National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) results. In the fields tested, the results for the Year 7 and Year 9 boys were above the State average and demonstrated the hard work by both students and teachers. Both the Year 7 and Year 9 boys achieved strong NAPLAN scores in 'reading', 'data measurement, space & geometry', and 'number pattern & algebra'.

A high priority is given to developing student capability in literacy and numeracy which begins from the earliest years of the preschool and continues through to Grammar School with a clear focus on enabling students to gain admission to the university course of their choice.

Core learning areas in Grammar School include English, Mathematics, Science, Geography, History, Music, Visual Arts, French, Chinese, Technology, Personal Development, Health & Physical Education. In Years 9 and 10, students are able to select elective subjects from up to 17 different subject areas. HSC candidates in Years 11 and 12 may choose to structure their studies around 24 different courses.
