junior school | academic achievements

From the youngest age Pittwater House enables students to open their minds and to aim high in all they do.  A high priority is given to developing student capability in literacy and numeracy which begins from the earliest years of the pre-school and continues through to Year 12 with a clear focus on enabling students to gain admission to the university course of their choice.

The six core learning areas in the Junior School (Kindergarten to Year 4)  are Mathematics, English, Human Society & its Environment, Science & Technology, Creative Arts and Physical Development, Health & Physical Education (PDHPE). French and Chinese are taught to all students from Year 3.

Testimony to our focus on academic excellence is the 2011 National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) results. Students tested in the Year 3 and Year 5 Junior Girls College performed above the state average and both Years performed particularly well in 'grammar & punctuation'.
