In an independent school like ours our parents form an integral part of the life of the community. We often refer to our "School Family" and clearly this encompasses the parent body and beyond to the extended families of our pupils. The Pittwater House Parents Association is a flourishing part of our community and provides an important social opportunity through a range of events during the school year and an essential service by managing and operating the School Canteen and other volunteer services.
I commend the Committee and its supporters for their energy and enthusiasm under the leadership of President, Mr Todd Alexis, and Vice President, Mrs Julie Galbraith. We welcome parent volunteers who might like to join sub-committees for events or assist on any day on an ad hoc basis. This year's calendar provides our School Family with a number of great opportunities to meet and mingle and enjoy the hospitality of the PHPA.
Richard Morgan
Principal of Pittwater House
The Pittwater House Parents Association is an enthusiastic and dedicated group of volunteer parents whose objective is to enhance the spirit of the 'school family', provide some essential services for the schools' parents and pupils and to contribute to the facilities of the schools through fundraising activities. Historically, the PHPA has comprised a committee of mothers of pupils. In more recent years, however, a number of fathers have joined the committee and this trend is to be encouraged. It is, of course, important for the PHPA to be represented by parents of pupils of all ages.
The work of the PHPA involves the following:
Our major functions this year will be the Summer Drinks Party, the Mothers' Day Luncheon, the Fathers Day Breakfast and the "Music at da House" event later in the year. Please look out for the promotion of these events and help support us to make them a success.
The school swimming pool was built with funds raised by the PHPA. Over the last nine years, donations to the School from the PHPA fundraising activities have totaled over $300,000 and some of the facilities and equipment purchased with these funds are as follows:
Parents wishing to donate their time and enthusiasm are always welcome to get involved, whether to serve on the committee or in the canteen or to generally assist the PHPA in its work. A 'helpers' list is maintained so that assistance from within the school community can be obtained as and when needed.
Interested parents should feel free to contact me on toddalexis@sixthfloor.com.au, or any other committee member to register their interest and get involved.
