New Staff in 2012
In the pursuit of academic excellence, Pittwater House has appointed five high calibre teachers commencing in 2012:
Amy Tickle (J5) will be replacing Maria Cross who is moving to a full-time learning support role within Pittwater House. Ms Tickle brings with her 10 years of teaching experience, most recently from Wenona Girl's School in North Sydney, and is the award winner of the NSW Teachers Guild Award for Excellence in the Early Years of Teaching (2005).
Sascha McCarthy (J3) is joining the Junior School from one of the Eastern Suburbs most prestigious girl's schools Kambala. Ms McCarthy comes to us with 11 years teaching experience and a Masters of Education/Bachelor of Education (primary).
David Strange (English/History) will be replacing Clare Seligman who retired last year. Mr Strange comes to us from the International Grammar School, Ultimo, he has many years teaching experience across all years of English. Mr Strange is a prolific writer of educational journal articles and creative pieces. He has also written a number of study guides aimed at HSC English topics. Mr Strange has had the opportunity to write articles including critiques on film, poetry, prose and critical theory. Mr Strange is heavily involved in debating and he looks forward to continuing this at Pittwater House. Mr Strange will be a Grammar 11 Form teacher in 2012.
Peter Fathers (History/Geography) will be replacing Gary Melikian's following his retirement. Mr Fathers will be teaching Geography and History in the Senior School. As well as his teaching role he will be a Grammar 7 Form teacher. Mr Fathers is also a Pittwater House Alumni.
Adam Demasi (Mathematics) brings with him a great deal of ICT knowledge and many years' experience teaching students from Year 7 to 12. To compliment his teaching duties Mr Demasi will also be the Year 8 Form teacher. He also brings with him a great love and talent in a range of sports. He has worked with the NRL Sea Eagles, Manly Marlins and the Northern Beaches Soccer competition.
